Three decades of experience in developing and manufacturing brushless DC motors and research into leading edge technology has produced a range of Electronically Commutated (EC) DC motors that connect straight to AC mains. Availability in motor sizes up to 3 kW is an impressive improvement. These very high efficiency motors are used in high efficiency fans to produce an extensive range of axial and centrifugal EC fans.
The new EC fan range is helping industry to develop high efficiency air moving applications in their bid to reduce the world’s carbon emissions.
This important innovation has been recognised in by a number of major awards:
National ACR Awards 2015- Ancillary Product of the Year
At the recent National ACR Awards 2015 ceremony, ebm-papst won the Ancillary Product of the Year award, after having entered the AxiTop Diffuser. The AxiTop diffuser can be optimised for different characteristics, depending on the application concerned. It also can greatly improve acoustic characteristics, which is especially important in noise-sensitive applications. The panel of expert judges commented on this product, saying: "It is a very clever product and it makes a marked difference."
National ACR Awards 2015- Environmental Champion
At the recent 2015 National ACR Awards, ebm-papst came away with the Environmental Champion award, after having shown clear regard for sustainability and environmental issues. The panel of expert judges commented on the win, saying "ebm papst has put years of research and development into energy reduction and consistently improves its energy efficiency through innovation.".
RAC Cooling Awards 2014- Refrigeration Product of the Year
At last Wednesday's RAC Cooling Industry awards ceremony, ebm-papst won Refrigeration Product of the Year, having entered it's AxiTop diffuser. An AxiTop trial was conducted by Space Engineering Services and Coolers and Condensers on behalf of a major UK supermarket with the aim to evaluate the energy saving benefit which comes from upgrading existing EC condenser fans to the AxiTop diffuser.
Essex Accountancy and Business Awards 2014- Large Business of the Year
Fan technology leader and Chelmsford employer ebm-papst UK has been named as the area’s best large company at a recent business awards ceremony. The world-leading manufacturer walked away with the 2014 Large Business of the Year accolade at the Essex Accountancy and Business Awards.
RAC Cooling Awards 2012 - Industrial & Commercial Project of the Year
At the spectacular Awards ceremony, ebm-papst won the Industrial & Commercial Project of the year Awards for it's joint project with Emerson Network Power and Norland Managed Services, upgrading the fans in a National Bank's existing data centre.
RAC Cooling Awards 2011 - Marketing Campaign of the Year
The GreenTech fan range won a Cooling Industry award last year and this year the judges felt the marketing campaign devised to promote it ticked all the boxes pushing the environmental benefits. GreenTech has a dual aim: demonstrating the benefits of premium price EC fans to cost-conscious end users and demonstrating good life cycle carbon results to environmentally conscious customers.
ACR News Awards 2011 - Marketing Initiative of the Year
ebm-papst won the award as it gained a commercial advantage over its competitors by establishing the GreenTech brand with the target groups. This has helped to develop relationships with large corporate bodies looking to save energy through retrofit as well as enhancing our sales to OEMs.
RAC Cooling Industry Awards 2010 - Refrigeration Product of the Year
‘Refrigeration Product of the Year’ was awarded to ebm-papst's iQ motor, a component for evaporator fans. Chosen for its excellent sustainability values and unfaltering usability in both retrofit and new applications, it was described by Judges as “another innovative product from a company that understands the needs of the RAC industry.”
RAC Cooling Awards 2010 - Environmental Pioneer of the Year
The second award in 2010 received by ebm-papst was the ‘Environmental Pioneer of the Year’. Geoff Lockwood, Technical Director of ebm-papst was presented with this award in recognition of his personal impact on the industry’s environmental achievements. His dedication to improving standards and performance, in a part of the RAC industry which is often seen as the ‘unglamorous’ side of the sector, won praise from the Judges.
ACR News Awards 2007 - Marketing Campaign of the Year
ebm-papst’s ‘Green’ finance model, won the Marketing Initiative of the Year Award 2007 sponsored by ACR News, at the recent RAC 07 exhibition.
Specially developed by ebm-papst UK, the model is a totally new approach to encourage end users to adopt more efficient technology. It helps to promote awareness of energy efficiency whole-life costs rather than the ‘bottom line’ mentality employed by much of British business. Data relating to capital cost, energy saving, and maintenance cycles can be input and it is also designed to allow the user to input different scenarios to determine the best life cost comparison.
RAC Cooling Industry Awards 2005 - Environmental Marketing Campaign
ebm-papst's first winning entry was for the Best Environmental Marketing Campaign, the judging panel commented,“ebm-papst ran a highly focussed campaign, designed to stimulate the adoption of its energy saving fans. Launched in October 2004, to coincide with the draft revision of Part L of the Building Regulations, the CD-based initiative was designed for end users and consultants – and achieved a huge impact. This was an excellent campaign, clearly thought out and well executed. It demonstrates the power of effective marketing in promoting energy saving technology.”
RAC Cooling Industry Awards 2005 - Environmental Pioneer
The second winning entry was in the Individual Environmental Pioneer category and was won by Gert Haeussermann, the man behind the high energy efficiency fans and fan motors marketed by ebm-papst which have made an enormous contribution to the efficiency of countless refrigeration and air conditioning installations. Gert produced the first EC motor and fan when he was a bio-medical engineer at the University of Stuttgart. Since then, he has pioneered the development, honing the technology for ever greater efficiency - and widening fields of application.
ACR News Awards 2005 - Air-Conditioning Product of the Year
ebm-papst UK has won yet another award for its ground breaking EC fan technology. Although a fan is just a component in any air conditioning product, the judging panel recognised that it is a very important component. This new EC technology is being used to produce more efficient, compact air conditioning products and will be developed into many more. It is innovative and ground breaking, creating new advances for original equipment manufacturers and end users to exploit.
RAC Cooling Industry Awards 2004 - Environmental Product of the Year
ebm-papst's new environmentally sensitive energy saving motors (ESM) and EC fans have won Refrigeration and Air Conditioning magazine’s Environmental Product of the Year award.
The judging panel agreed that the award, sponsored by supermarket giant ASDA, should be presented to ebm-papst because their new EC motor and fan broke new ground in energy efficiency, delivering major savings for users and a positive return for the environment. The motor is around 45% more efficient than standard refrigeration fan motors and pays for itself in the first two years of operation, based on energy savings alone. Subsequent savings accrue due to the unit’s extreme reliability, which extends the life cycle and reduces service calls.
H&V News Awards 2004 - Air Movement Product of the Year
The EC Fan from ebm-papst UK won Air Movement Product of the Year. It was acknowledged by the judges to be a step forward for motor and fan design. Benefits include the latest DC motor techniques, which due to leading-edge technology can be connected directly to AC mains, while new impeller design also reduces noise levels. Intelligent speed control with remote access for monitoring/diagnosis, good power output and high efficiency were also applauded. Sponsored by HaierUK.
