ebm-papst exhibited at NEMEX to promote our energy saving EC fan technology directly to those who will benefit from it. The energy users and property owners who want to reduce their energy consumption and carbon emissions.
The sight of two polystyrene balls hovering in mid-air was enough to make visitors stop and wonder what this had to do with sustainability but the news that fan based heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) services can account for around one third of a building’s total carbon emissions quickly focussed their attention. As is typical in this sector, most of the energy and facilities managers at the show hadn’t considered the fans in their buildings as a target for energy saving and carbon reduction.
In addition to the “ball juggler”, other working displays demonstrated the additional EC technology benefits of closed loop speed control and virtually silent EC motors. The AC v EC chiller simulation showed that while initially using 30% less power, running four EC fans at half speed against two AC fans at full speed increased this to a 50% energy saving.
A lot of interest was generated in the ongoing series of free, CPD based EC technology seminars being held at our new Client Centre in Chelmsford. These proved particularly popular with public sector representatives who face the dual challenges of the CRC energy efficiency scheme and shrinking resources.
